Johnsons Stalbridge Linen Services makes its Debut on Channel 4
Dorset-based Johnsons Stalbridge Linen Services this week makes its debut on Channel 4 TV’s new cookery series– with its table linen as one of the main ingredients!
The company, which is a leading provider of table linen and chefs wear to the catering and hospitality industries, supplied 220 tablecloths and 280 napkins in a range of colours to the producers of ‘Cookery School’, a daily cookery competition, which was recorded towards the end of last year. The first programme in the 10-week series went out last week.
In the programme, chef Richard Corrigan and mentor Gizzi Erskine teach people the secrets of great cooking – from basic to advanced levels. From soufflés to sauces, spatchcocking to spun sugar, every ‘cheffy’ secret is revealed as, each week, six home-cooks from around the country are pushed to make the perfect dish while battling to win a place in the finals. The pupils have to master three mouth-watering recipes. Those who don’t make the grade are sent home.
In the first couple of episodes, students try to master steak tartare with quail’s eggs, pan-fried beef with a tarragon and chervil sauce, and hand-cut burgers with hot pepper salsa and chunky chips. Sea bass with wilted spinach and mushrooms, and stuffed lemon sole with tenderstem broccoli, are also on the menu!
“We were approached by the production company, Red House TV, who needed some help furnishing the set,” comments David Hill, sales & marketing director for Stalbridge Linen. “We were delighted to be able to help, and whilst I’m sure we’ll all pick up a few handy cookery tips from the series, it’s also great fun spotting your own products on set!”
